초록

본 연구는 STEM 교육의 진화를 탐구하며, 그 역사적 기원을 추적하여 현대의 동향과 과제를 조명한다. 이 연구는 교육 관행을 사회적 요구와 변화하는 21세기 노동 시장에 부합시키기 위해, STEM 교육의 현재 동향과 방향에 대한 포괄적인 이해가 필요하다는 점을 다루고자 한다. 본 연구는 1) STEM 교육을 형성한 핵심 개념과 역사적 이정표를 파악하기 위한 과학 문헌에 대한 회고적 분석, 2) OpenAlex 데이터베이스에 색인된 지난 3년(2021–2024) 간의 출판물에 대한 서지계량학적 분석이라는 2단계 방법론을 채택했다. 문헌계량학적 분석을 통해 새롭게 부상하는 연구 클러스터와 주제가 드러났으며, 특히 학제간 및 초학제간 학습, 디지털 도구와 AI 기반 플랫폼을 포함한 첨단 교육 기술의 통합과 같은 추세가 강조되었다. 주요 연구 결과는 비판적 사고를 함양하고, 학문 간 장벽을 해소하며, 학생들이 복잡한 현실 세계의 문제를 해결할 수 있도록 준비시키는 데 있어 학제간 접근 방식이 수행하는 핵심적인 역할을 부각한다. 이 연구는 STEM 학문 분야의 통합 강화, 혁신적인 교수 전략(예: 프로젝트 기반 학습)의 도입, 교육자, 정책 입안자 및 산업계 이해관계자가 참여하는 협력적 프레임워크 등을 포함하여 STEM 교육의 미래 발전을 위한 유망한 방향을 제시한다. 이러한 통찰력은 사회적 과제와 글로벌 인력의 역동적인 요구에 부응하는 방식으로 STEM 교육을 발전시키기 위한 토대를 마련해 줍니다.
