License Update: Transition to CC BY 4.0

We are excited to announce an important update regarding the licensing policy of articles published in the Journal of Hypermedia & Technology-Enhanced Learning (J-HyTEL).

What Does This Mean?

Under the new CC BY 4.0 license, readers are free to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format for any purpose, even commercially.
  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.

Key Changes:
  • Attribution: You must give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and J-HyTEL. This includes providing a link to the license and indicating if any changes were made. You may do this in any reasonable manner, but not in a way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use of the material.

  • No Additional Restrictions: You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

Why the Change?

This move is intended to provide greater flexibility for both authors and readers. The CC BY 4.0 license allows for a wider distribution of knowledge, encourages collaboration, and supports innovation while allowing commercial use under the condition of proper attribution.

What You Need to Do:
  • For authors: If you have already published with J-HyTEL, there is no need to take any action. Articles published under CC BY-SA will remain under that license. However, any new submissions from Vol. 3 No. 1 (2025) onwards will be published under the new CC BY 4.0 license.

  • For readers: You can now freely share, reuse, and adapt published content, provided you give proper attribution as specified under the CC BY 4.0 license.

Thank you for your continued support of open access and scholarly publishing!
