Abstrak
Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi evolusi pendidikan STEM, menelusuri asal-usul historisnya hingga tren dan tantangan kontemporer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan akan pemahaman komprehensif mengenai tren dan arah terkini dalam pendidikan STEM guna menyelaraskan praktik pendidikan dengan tuntutan masyarakat dan pasar tenaga kerja abad ke-21 yang terus berkembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodologi dua tahap: 1) analisis retrospektif terhadap literatur ilmiah untuk mengidentifikasi konsep-konsep kunci dan tonggak sejarah yang membentuk pendidikan STEM, dan 2) analisis bibliometrik terhadap publikasi selama tiga tahun terakhir (2021–2024) yang terindeks dalam basis data OpenAlex. Analisis bibliometrik tersebut mengungkap kluster dan tema penelitian yang sedang berkembang, dengan penekanan pada tren seperti pembelajaran interdisipliner dan transdisipliner serta integrasi teknologi pedagogis canggih, termasuk alat digital dan platform berbasis kecerdasan buatan (AI). Temuan utama menyoroti peran kritis pendekatan interdisipliner dalam menumbuhkan pemikiran kritis, menjembatani kesenjangan antar-disiplin, dan mempersiapkan siswa untuk memecahkan masalah dunia nyata yang kompleks. Studi ini mengidentifikasi arah yang menjanjikan bagi pengembangan pendidikan STEM di masa depan, termasuk integrasi yang lebih baik antara disiplin ilmu STEM, penerapan strategi pedagogis inovatif (misalnya, pembelajaran berbasis proyek), serta kerangka kerja kolaboratif yang melibatkan pendidik, pembuat kebijakan, dan pemangku kepentingan industri. Wawasan ini menjadi landasan untuk memajukan pendidikan STEM dengan cara yang responsif terhadap tantangan sosial dan kebutuhan dinamis tenaga kerja global.
