Harmonized: 26 July 2026 ========================================================= -->
The Journal of Hypermedia & Technology-Enhanced Learning, also known as J-HyTEL, is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal (E-ISSN 2985-9166; DOI prefix 10.58536). Dedicated to advancing research and innovation at the intersection of educational technology, media technology, and computer science applications. J-HyTEL is published triannually in February, June, and October. The journal explores critical domains such as technology-enhanced learning (TEL), hypermedia, and the evolving role of emerging technologies in pedagogy, vocational training, and cross-cultural education.

J-HyTEL welcomes computing and information systems research that demonstrates a meaningful, rigorously evaluated contribution to learning, user experience, accessibility, professional practice, organizational capability, safety, sustainability, responsible innovation, or societal development. Technical implementation alone is insufficient; manuscripts must present a clear research problem, robust methodology, systematic evidence, and a transferable scholarly contribution.

Regular issues are released publicly as complete issues only after their planned scholarly content has completed all applicable editorial and production requirements. If a scheduled issue is delayed, it remains unpublished until ready and is released on its actual publication date; we don't backdate the issue or its articles to match the scheduled month. Online First is an optional editorial pathway. Eligible final articles may, at the editors’ discretion, be published Online First before issue assignment. An Online First article is a final published record, not an accepted manuscript or proof. When it is later assigned to a complete issue, the same article record, DOI, and original first-publication date are retained. In contrast, volume, issue, pagination, or an article identifier is added where applicable. Manuscripts are accepted throughout the year and are evaluated through editorial screening and double-blind external peer review. Research articles selected for publication receive at least two completed independent external reviews. Details are provided in the Publication Schedule & Online First Policy.

Published articles are immediately open access. Authors retain copyright, and the licence applicable to each article is stated on its article page and in the published full text. Detailed information on scope, peer review, publication ethics, fees, licensing, preservation, and the publication model is available through the journal's policy pages.
en-US Sat, 03 May 2025 08:45:30 +0700 OJS 3.3.0.13 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 Maintenance Announcements: Now Indexed in ROAD http://edutech-journals.org/index.php/j-hytel/announcement/view/13
We are pleased to announce that the Journal of Hypermedia & Technology-Enhanced Learning (e-ISSN 2985-9166) has been successfully indexed in the Directory of Open Access scholarly Resources (ROAD). In line with this commitment, we have introduced a policy regarding the use of generative AI (GenAI) and AI-assisted technologies in scientific writing.

This policy ensures that all manuscripts submitted to J-HyTEL meet rigorous academic integrity standards while also acknowledging the potential of AI tools to enhance research and writing. We strongly encourage authors to review and familiarize themselves with this policy, which can be found in the Publication Ethics section.

Key Points of the Policy:

Permitted Use of AI in Scientific Writing
Authors may use AI tools to enhance the readability, language, and structure of their manuscripts. However, these tools must always be used under human supervision and cannot replace essential authoring tasks. AI should be used to support the writing process but not to write substantial portions of the manuscript autonomously.

Disclosure Requirements
Any use of AI tools during the writing process must be explicitly disclosed. Authors must provide a clear explanation of how AI was applied, including examples of specific sections or elements of the manuscript that were assisted by AI tools. Tools such as ChatGPT must be mentioned, specifying their role and any relevant details (e.g., the version and manufacturer of the AI tool).

Prohibited Use of AI for Image Creation or Alteration
The use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools to create, alter, or enhance images in submitted manuscripts is strictly prohibited unless such tools are part of the research design or methodology (e.g., AI-assisted imaging approaches in biomedical research). In these cases, the use of AI must be fully described in the Methods section, including how AI was applied to the creation or alteration of images, the specific AI tool(s) used, the version and manufacturer, and any relevant parameters. The authors may also be required to submit pre-AI-adjusted versions or raw images used in creating the final image.

Image Forensics
Submitted manuscripts may be subject to image forensics tools or specialized software to detect any irregularities or suspected manipulations of images. Authors should ensure that all images submitted accurately represent the research data.

Prohibited Use of AI in the Production of Artwork
Generative AI tools should not be used to create artwork such as book covers, commissioned content, or graphical abstracts. All artwork must be created by the authors themselves or be legally sourced from third-party providers.

AI in Peer Review Process
Reviewers are not permitted to use generative AI or AI-assisted tools to evaluate manuscripts or draft reviews. All assessments and feedback must be based on the reviewer’s own expertise and judgment to ensure the integrity and originality of the peer review process (Peer Review Policy).

We encourage all authors and reviewers to adhere to these guidelines to ensure the integrity of their work and uphold the transparency of the academic publishing process.

Please note that this policy is also included in the latest submission template and will be effective starting from Vol. 3, No. 1 (2025) and onwards.

For further details and the full policy, please visit the Publication Ethics page on our website.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best Regards,
International Editorial Board
Journal of Hypermedia & Technology-Enhanced Learning (J-HyTEL)
Publisher: Sagamedia Teknologi Nusantara
http://edutech-journals.org/index.php/j-hytel/announcement/view/12 Sun, 15 Dec 2024 20:27:13 +0700 Maintenance Announcements: License Update: Transition to CC BY 4.0 http://edutech-journals.org/index.php/j-hytel/announcement/view/11
We are excited to announce an important update regarding the licensing policy of articles published in the Journal of Hypermedia & Technology-Enhanced Learning (J-HyTEL).

Starting from Vol. 3 No. 1 (2025), all articles in the journal will be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
